National Coming Out Day and Indigenous People Day are both celebrated on October 11th each year. 

While both are very important causes and deserving of attention, having both holidays on the same day risks erasure of both discussions about these important topics. 

While there are indigenous members of the 2SLGBTQAI community, each deserves the attention necessary to focus on those communities and their individual importance within two marginalized communities. 

This petition will go to President Biden and the members of Congress to declare National Coming Out Day on a different day, like October 22nd for example, to allow direct focus, discussion and celebration of the indigenous community on October 11th.
