This petition is to help change the law surrounding the combat sports ban, which affects boxing,kickboxing,taekwondo,mma, but wrestling is allowed if it considered entertainment. I feel they do this for the Canada games But boxing is part of Canada games but is not held on pei why? because the government refuses to put in place a commission to sanction fights properly and safely. this is selfish as many athletes who want to train martial arts cannot begin a career here,not even in an amateur league. there are still fighters who train here and go and fight in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. but they can’t build a fan base in those provinces like their opponents who live and train there. the fans that do travel to watch them fight have to pay the bridge fee discouraging some from even bothering. if fights could be held in PEI it would bring fans from other provinces to watch our fights, the fighters would have a loyal home fan base to support them. and the income that combat sports is making nowadays is what this island needs and it needs entertainment. let’s face its quite boring and fights can be held year round any they are for everyone so please
