Change the Champlain College cafeteria cutlery

Change the Champlain College cafeteria cutlery

Our goal is to reduce the plastic waste produced by the utensils handed out in the school's cafeteria. Right now, the cafeteria provides a plastic fork, knife and spoon wrapped in
a plastic bag. For someone who just needs a single fork, this is very wasteful and could be easily avoidable. We are suggesting that the cafeteria makes the changes from plastic cutlery to biodegradable. Moreover, we wish to see a switch to distribute biodegradable ones because it is estimated to take plastic cutlery 200 years or more to decompose whilst biodegradable cutlery only takes weeks or months. A change like this could however add a cost of $0.10 to the cutlery.
