While we want to support our school 110%.  We feel that the haircut rule for boys, which was created 20 years ago, is outdated.  We wear school uniforms and have to keep our hair cut very short.  For the boys, this gives us no outlet for expression, no sense of identity which we greatly crave in our teenage years.  Girls have more options with having different hairstyles as long as the colors are not wild. They have accessories, jewelry, makeup, etc.  These are just a few ways they can express themselves without breaking any rules.  Boys don't have any of these options.  We feel the rule should be changed so that it will allow for a longer hairstyle while still being well kept and not a distraction to others. Please sign our petition so that we can approach the school board with as much support as possible!!
