Why this petition matters

Started by Wendy Philps

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 61 after a routine Mammogram. I was recalled and had no symptoms or lumps detectable. The new mammogram showed significant changes to my breast if I hadn't had this  routine mammogram i dread to think what the outcome would  have been. It had a significant impact on my  husband, family and friends.I  only  remarried 3 years ago and wasnt expecting this .lt was a lot for my husband and family to deal with. During my treatment journey I began to realise that Cancer doesn't know your age why do Women have to wait until they are 50 for this health check? Young Ladies in their twenties die from this disease,  Cancer doesn't know your age and things need to change to stop women with young families dying, leaving their loved ones devastated.  I'm lucky I've survived but so many haven't. The government and the Health Services need to address  this situation sooner rather than later.
