JAN 18, 2022 —

TODAY - Tuesday January 18, 2022 , starting at 5 p.m in Redlands City Council Chambers, the meeting to decide whether or not Shopper's Lane will be renamed for Al Harris. will take place.

This was our original plan back in Sept 2020,when Al passed away due to  complications from Parkinson's disease and COVID. We were told no, because Arteco Partners, the developer of the Redlands Public Market, (formerly known as the M.OD, located at 330 N. Third St.) might want to rename Shopper's Lane, even though their address is 330 Third street, and has no attachment to Shopper's Lane .

Shopper's Lane has no businesses on it nor does it have any active addresses, it hasn't had a street sign identifying it consistently for over two decades .

Cliff Cummings, owner of the Subaru and Toyota dealerships in San Bernardino, and his wife, have committed to paying for the necessary signage to effect the change.  Both of them remembered the kindness Al showed them and others and wanted to contribute to our effort.

Simply put, this will not cost the City of Redlands, nor it's taxpayers, anything.

I have read your comments  here, and on the various social media sites .

The outpouring of love and respect put forth by our community for Al is truly heartfelt and  amazing.  Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and memories.

For those of you not familiar with Al's background .
A simple Google Search will show the outpouring of love and affection our community bestowed on Al after his passing. Al touched generations of families throughout the Inland Empire and most specifically, Redlands.

Please  e-mail these three council members your support for this change. The council members are: Eddie Tejeda, Paul Barich ,and Jenna Guzman-Lowery here are their addresses :

Share with any of the friends you know who are like minded in this effort. I knew Al for 45 years prior to his passing- he was the most genuinely kind and caring people I have ever met- he truly was a beautiful spirit- his legacy is everything Redlands is truly about.

The meeting is today at 5 p.m. if you can't make it in person ,Click on the link below to go to the public web site. 01/18/22
