Change outdated Nashville overcrowding code

Change outdated Nashville overcrowding code
Why this petition matters
This Wednesday, my 4 roommates and I were given 5 days notice to either leave our 4 bedroom home or lower the number of roommates to 3. The metro code states that no more than 3 unrelated individuals can live in a single home in Nashville due to overcrowding. As Nashville grows and the price of living increases, this outdated code prevents college students and many other people who can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars a month on rent from being able to live in the area. Since this classist code is rarely enforced, we had no worry when signing this lease. We are now being evicted from our home mid semester with nowhere to go, most of us from out of state. If this law was enforced for the countless frat houses in Nashville, we would be more understanding. But this code is not being enforced for everyone and the law should be for everyone. Please stop the developers and the rich from changing Nashville and making it unaffordable for all! Please sign this petition to change this code and help us keep our home!
