Tell Illinois legislators its time to get the felony murder bill HB1615, SB2292 and the parole bill HB3214, SB3233 passed to law.

The felony murder bill will change how and who prosecutors can charge the accused with 1st degree murder and gun enhancements. It will stop sending defendants to prison for life for merely being present to the act, charging only the person/s who personally murdered with 1st degree murder and the gun enhancements.

The parole bill will allow inmates who have been sentenced to terms considered life, over 30 years, to apply for parole after 20 years or after 25% of their sentence has been served allowing inmates time for good behavior and rehabilitation actions. These bills need to be passed. Please be the voice of the silent  thousands wrongly accused and overly sentenced in prison serving time without hope.

The person, Tim, was charge and convicted by a archaic accountability law. He was attempting to by $70 of marijuana when a third person attempted to rob the dealer using a handgun. The dealer, the victim was shot and died. Tim was charged with 1st degree murder and attempted armed robbery, he had no weapon and had his hands up in submission during the robbery attempt. Tim was convicted and sentenced to 30 years, at 100%, for 1st degree murder, a 15 year gun enhancement, at 100% and 4 years at 50% for attempted armed robbery, totaling 49 years or what is considered life in prison. He is a model prisoner, has received a college certification as a legal assistant, payed for by his family. He works and is hoping the state will reinstate collage funding so he can continue to a college degree in his attempts to rehabilitate. Help by telling your legislators to pass the bills for Tim and the many of the wrongly convicted like him. Felony murder bills HB1615, SB2292 and parole bills HB3214, SB3233.
