Tax the 1%

If you are like every other regular human being on earth, going to work, paying your taxes, taking care of your family, you may be faced with this question: If I’m paying my taxes why is not everyone paying their taxes? What is the purpose of tax loopholes? Taxes are an opportunity for all of us to share into one pool for our community locally, federally and globally in order to improve everyone’s day-to-day lives. In the developed nations of the world the governments have passed  laws that enable the very, very wealthy -  the 1% of our population - to never be compelled to pay even a small share of their vast income. In fact, these laws enable them to stash their money in tax havens around the world with impunity. Many people admire them and wish to be them. This very desire prevents real fairness to prevail for all. These laws must be changed to reflect the truth that all human beings deserve to live in dignity, as it is stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 25), adopted by the United Nations  in December 1948 . The world’s 26 richest people now own more wealth than the bottom half of the world’s population - 3.8 billion people (Source: Oxfam).  This growing divide between the wealthy and the poor threatens us all.  The wealthy must pay their share in order for justice to prevail. Please sign this petition to change the laws that allow the super wealthy to evade taxes. Their tax dollars will ease the enormous economic burden to pay for all that enables our communities to flourish instead of just survive.
