Petition to move make up days from January to the end of the school year.

CPS Chief Education Officer LaTanya McDade said in a statement, "we understand that modifications to the school calendar can create real challenges for our families, and we have worked to add makeup days in a manner that prioritizes student learning and minimizes disruption to the fullest extent possible,"

This cannot be prioritizing student learning or minimizing disruption if so many students and teachers will be absent for winter break.

Also, with AP exams not beginning until May, there can be extra accommodations for students with enough notice to ensure their education and results are the best they can be.

Plans have been made, tickets have been bought, and the lack of notice will cause attendance rates to plummet. If the CPS board refuses to change those make up days due to scheduling conflicts, they should opt to count January 2nd and 3rd as exempt. In that case, attendance would not be negatively impacted, students can have their extra instructional days, and teachers/ families who have sought out travel arrangements will not be penalized.

Petición para cambiar los días de recuperación desde Enero hasta el final del año escolar.
