Cat lovers are calling for felines to be included in the Road Traffic Act.
Under the 1988 Road Traffic Act, the penalty for failing to stop and/or report hitting an animal falls in the same category as failing to stop in a regular traffic collision, which carries a maximum fine of £5,000.
Cats should be included in this. Despite being the UK's second most popular pet, furry felines aren't afforded the same rights if they're hit by a car. Let’s try and change this!
