My classmates and I want to study plastic bag pollution. In Vero Beach, you commonly see plastic bags crumbled up on the curbs of the side of the road. Most streets are highly populated with cars, companies advertising themselves with dancing people with signs, bikers, walkers, and lastly trash. This is a rising issue in our community. We believe with careful consideration, problem-solving skills, and opinions from others in the community; we can find a solution to this very serious issue. Around 100 billion plastic bags are used in a day. 2 billion of which is used in Florida. This means 29,850,746 million plastic bags are used in Indian River county itself. Out of 15 towns in Indian River County, Vero Beach itself uses around 1,990,049 million plastic bags a day. Although the statistic seems over exaggerated there not, this is exactly how important and serious this problem is. For more of an example that’s roughly 500,987 lives of mammals and aquatic lives taken.
