There is a lot of hypocrisy at the moment about the Honours system. Tony Blair should not be getting a knighthood but many of those happy to complain about him have not batted an eyelid about those who sppear to have bought honours with political donations or other politicians who received them after promoting dubious and life stunting policies.

So here is an idea. These honours should not be for anyone who is already in the public eye. No politicians. No highly paid sportsmen and women who are rewarded financially already. No big business leaders who like flying rockets as a hobby. No showbiz personalities who take it in. Ordinary people who have done extraordinary things are the only people who deserve this sort of recognition.
