Jason Cotterill-Attaway started this petition to Change.org, 38degrees, uk government

For the past three years, we've seen nothing but badly worded, ill informed petitions that are nothing more than a propaganda and data gathering exercise for anti-democracy movements.

We all agreed to abide by the decision of the Referendum on the UK's membership of the European Union by taking part in the referendum.

The British Government made leaving the EU law, with 498 votes.

Regardless of how we voted personally, we, the British electorate voted to leave and the government are now trying to carry out our democratically expressed will.

All these badly worded, ill informed petitions are doing is wasting government time, which will actually accelerate a 'no deal' scenario, the default position under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty; while at the same time, handing over personal information to political groups that you normally wouldn't associate with.

As for the current political scenario, parliment is closed for four weeks in September and October for party conference season anyway.... And it is these conferences where parties choose their leaders!

We, the undersigned, are respectfully asking organisations such as Change.org and 38 Degrees to cease hosting these petitions, especially those that are not fact checked, and for the UK government to not be sidelined by such and to get on with the job they were elected to do.

Thank you.
