Change or amend the domestic back-yard chicken ordinance for residential properties.
Why this petition matters

This is a petition to the Augusta County Virginia Board of Supervisors.
This petition seeks to change or amend the Augusta County code related to keeping Back-Yard Chickens.
The proposed changes:
1. Increase the number of chickens for those with 1 acre or more.
2. Remove the section in the Back-Yard Ordinance related to sending letters to neighbors essentially asking for permission (or rather objection).
3. Allow for free-range chickens and increase enclosure size.
4. Allow for composting chicken manure on-site.
Citizens have a human right to keep chickens for food and no government or corporation has a right to take the food out of the mouths of our children and our families.
The existing pathway to keeping chickens is complicated, draconian and oppressive.
The board of supervisors passed a second amendment resolution vowing to protect gun rights, surely the can change the back-yard chicken code to empower people to secure their own food.
I, James Burnett of Augusta County, am asking every freedom loving American living in Augusta County to support this cause by signing this petition.
