Designate Munda St Reserve in Randwick as an Off-Leash Park for Dogs

We would like the Munda St Reserve to be designated as an approved off-leash dog exercise area in the Randwick LGA.
Randwick Council has 14 areas designated as off leash. However, none of them are fenced and, in most cases, are bordered by busy roads. The dog population in Randwick is increasing, the existing off-leash parks, on the whole, do not provide a safe environment for dogs and their handlers. It is only a matter of time before a serious road accident happens. Munda St Reserve is not bordered by any roads so is an ideal space to be designated as off-leash with the added advantage of sparing the Council any unbudgetted expense for the construction of a fence.
Munda St Reserve would not only be a safe area for dogs and their owners, it would also provide an opportunity for local residents to mingle with like minded people, to chat and to socialise thus promoting a sense of community.
In the "Recreation Needs Study", prepared for Randwick City Council by Stratcorp Consulting Pty Ltd in 2008, there was support for the retention (and expansion) of large open space areas suitable for off-leash dog exercise.
Munda St Reserve ticks all the boxes!
