Watching systems be careless in their security and seeing masses of children go too soon for over two decades needs to end. By starting locally, I want to see security take more of a primal role when it comes to public education. No longer should children have to fear a broken lock or an automatic system being the reason an outside source has entered the building. As one who has grown up in the LSR7 education system, I know firsthand how easy it is to get around security in our school. I even know how many teachers will put safety on the back burner and not follow through with what was warned by the school system. No more empty promises, make the change, and stand by your restrictions. I don't want to hear that my childhood school was shot up just like many others before it. We shouldn't wait for the worst-case scenario in order to correct faults in a system. If this local change works, let's make it nationwide.
