Gun violence in America isn’t about to be in schools soon; it already is. As a country, this should not be accepted as a fact and deserves a place in your mind when you think about guns. With that being said, of course, guns can be owned safely and with the proper knowledge, you could be able to own them without it ever becoming an issue. Unfortunately, for many families that is not the case due to parents being unsafe or misplacing them where their children could potentially take the firearms. However, often that is not even the problem as most school shootings committed by young adults used weapons purchased by themselves. Recently the number of school shootings in the 2021–2022 school year, saw nearly quadruple the average number of gunfire incidents since 2013. The amount of School Shootings that have not only been on the rise but with young adults in the entire United States, shows that semi-automatic rifles should not be in the hands of young adults from the ages 18 to 20.So the law that is being proposed is to Raise the age to buy a semi-auto assault rifle from 18 to 21. This would cause the number one weapon of choice for school shootings to be out of reach and even this minute change could save many lives.
