LC-PS needs a change. We need a new, updated dress code. Coming from a girl in middle school at LC, me and my friends get dress-coded constantly. We are told that our clothes are distracting, especially shorts. You cannot go into a normal store like Kohl’s, JCPenney, and even Target and find a pair of shorts in the misses’ department that follow the current dress code. From lc-ps.orgour rule states “Shorts, skirts & dresses must extend beyond the open hand of the student while standing”. This rule is implying that all peoples body types are the same and, in reality they really are not. This rule causes girls to compare their bodies to each other. Even myself on many occasions have found myself comparing my body, wishing I had shorter arms or a shorter torso. That lowers our confidence a lot, which is already difficult in teen girls. Shouldn’t our school systems be boosting confidence and not limiting it? We should be able to wear clothes that fit our bodies appropriately. Thank you for reading! Please sign if you support.
