This petition, intended to reach the desk of Hamilton Mayor Jeff Martin, is to lobby elected representatives to change the name of 'Justice Samuel A Alito Jr Way' to 'Freedom Way'. Justice Samuel Alito Jr. has shown a disregard for something that New Jerseyans find to be paramount: autonomy over one's own body.

On May 2, 2022 a draft opinion written by Justice Alito Jr. was leaked. This draft opinion seeks to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark case that makes abortion federally legal. The overturning of Roe v Wade will leave millions of people without access to these services if they need them. There is currently no exception for rape or incest.

Let's tell Justice Alito Jr. where we stand on this issue. We stand for freedom to make your own decisions in life when it pertains to your body. I'm asking Mayor Jeff Martin to rename 'Justice Samuel A Alito Jr Way' to 'Freedom Way' and I'd like you to join me. A secondary reason, if you need one, is that the Freedom Village at Hamilton Woods, an affordable housing community, is currently being built on Justice Samuel A Alito Jr Way.
