When attending a Detroit Public School, or any school, you would expect to have staff members perform their best and be present. This has been proven to be inaccurate. As students from Detroit Public School, we’ve experienced firsthand underfunding from the Michigan Government. This has put a toll on our education, performance, mental health, etc. A Detailed Look at the Rampant Problems In Detroit's Education System, elaborates on the severe situation where teachers are viewed as neglecting their responsibilities, though this is not entirely their fault. Additionally, the community has not been in favor of the current state of the school buildings. This all points to the Michigan Government's lack of concern towards DPS schools. We should care because Detroit is a large community that has a rich history and diverse ethnic backgrounds. It would be a shame to see potential talent and future go to waste.
