During the pandemic, the students are being forced to take online classes. In this second corona wave, where almost every household is affected, the students have to focus on academics as well as families.

Students are unable to concentrate on their ill family members and most of the times, the student themselves are affected by Covid-19. A simple fact that the university fails to recognize is that education can have its time later but family cannot. Family is what inspires you to take a positive approach towards education and not the opposite.

A thoughtful and generous act by the university can change the situation and bring a joy of positivity during this time of crisis. Some of the steps that university should take are:

  1. Postpone upcoming exams for at least a month to give a sense of security to all the students.
  2. Extend the deadlines for the submission of next semester fees. This could relieve the huge burden of finances that all the students face right now.
  3. Declare holidays for at least 2 weeks so that the students can focus on their families.

All the points mentioned above have been implemented by some universities across India like IITs, VIT and SRM. Why can't Chandigarh University do the same? I hope the management will understand the genuine concerns of the students and will approach this problem with a positive outlook.
