Why this petition matters

In The University of Illinois’s Next 150 Strategic Plan, which outlines its goals for the next 150 years, there is next to nothing about student wellness. This omission coupled with the substandard mental health resources offered by the University is exacerbating mental illness within the UIUC community. UIUC should amend the strategic plan and implement this vision statement to address is growing mental health issue. Sign this petition to support Section 3 of CMN 250 mental health framework.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will continue to refine, coordinate, and structure its mental health framework to support all of its students effectively and ensure that all students, staff, and faculty have robust resources to aid their physical, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing.

1. Identify a strategic plan to further amend the student health and wellness practices across campus.
2. Develop a vision of collective mental health wellness and prosperity across the UIUC campus.
3. Simplify navigation of Counseling Center’s website and resources regarding student health and wellness.
4. Create a separate Student Wellness section on UIUC’s homepage that directs students to resources about health and wellness.
5. Invest substantially in more resources and funding into mental health institutions and initiatives on campus.
6. Build a culture at the university that de-stigmatizes mental health and encourages all students to embrace wellness.
