Stephen Harrad started this petition to Chancellor of the Exchequer and

Hi my husband is sadly one of the people that through no fault of his own changed jobs after Feb 28th and cannot be furloughed by his current employer. He approached his previous employer who refused to re mploy him so we have no option but to claim universal credit.

Once this crisis is over the Chancellor needs to make sure that those who fell through the loop hole are not forced to help pay back the national debt when they did not benefit.

Please help me to make sure that not only will we be paying back all the people that we have taken a mortgage holiday payment from etc, that we are not further penalised by being forced to pay either more NI insurance or income tax or any other kind of tax.

Hopefully you can appreciate that instead of my husband being safe at home on 80% of his full time wages and us continuing to pay our bills is a much better option than us being on a much lower amount on Universal credit and not being able to pay our bills and falling into debt through no fault of our own.

Just to clarify also my husband has since applied for lots of jobs but as you can imagine the companies that are open are on reduced work force and in this current crisis who is going to give up a job while being furloughed.

Thanks and please help by signing up.
