Crazy Mackem started this petition to Chancellor of the Exchequer

We've all relied on the major supermarkets and their frontline workers to help us through the Covid-19 lockdowns.  However, at a time when 'non-essential' retailers and businesses on the High Street have had to close, supermarkets have continued to trade freely, selling a range of non-essential goods in the process.  This isn't a level playing field.

The supermarkets have belatedly handed back millions saved in business rates relief, but a one-windfall tax on excess profits earned during the pandemic is called for. This will ensure that the cost of furloughing workers and supporting our high street is spread more equitably and does not simply fall to the onto the public purse.
