Return to on campus lecture for evening/ weekend cohorts
Chamberlain has made the decision to return back to on campus for lectures. As evening/weekend students who work full time, support families, and juggle school this decision was made with no consideration from the people who matter the most, the hard working, paying students. We have successfully done virtual lecture for over a year now with a good success rate, so why this change? There was no consideration for those who work right up until the start of class who now might have to make a decision between work and school. The evening weekend program was designed for working students, so how does requiring on campus lecture twice a week from 6pm-9pm (not including time it takes to drive there and home) make this convenient for our evening/weekend cohorts? In addition to the stress of trying to get to campus on time for evening lecture, we are also amidst a global pandemic with numbers continuing to rise. By having us attend campus increased the risk of spreading or contracting the virus when this is 100% avoidable. As being apart of the healthcare family and future nurse, we believe in science and our main goal to keep everyone safe the best we can. What we are requesting is to keep lectures online for the evening/weekend cohorts to help mitigate the spread of covid 19 and allow the working students the opportunity to continue their education without fear of being dropped due to conflicting school and work schedules.
