Chamber of Commerce of Custer County, Colorado: Disallow participants in the July 4th parade to march with firearms

We, the undersigned residents of Custer County, Colorado, declare that the 4th of July parade in Custer County is a community and family event intended to commemorate and celebrate our nation's independence, and is thus not an appropriate forum in which to stage political protests on controversial issues.

We ask that all participants in the 4th of July parade, with the exception of uniformed Sheriff's Dept. personnel or posse members, be prohibited from carrying firearms.

This has nothing to do with our personal stance, or anyone else's stance, on the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution and gun control laws. It has everything to do with staging a celebration of our nation's independence that is inclusive, family-friendly, and community oriented.
