The G train is very improtant to the Greenpoint neighborhood. I and my children use it daily. This neighborhood is overcrowded so why would the MTA want to take this away. They can't say they arte not Greenpoint always get shortchanged.
In July of 2009, the G train was extended by five stations from Carrol Gardens into Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, and Kensington to allow for track work on the elevated section of the F and G lines. The MTA had indicated the extension would be permanent, but now they are seriously considering discontinuing G train service to these five stations.
The G links Brooklyn neighborhoods that otherwise are not readily accessible to one another by bus or subway. The MTA has severely cut the G train's route in Queens. The extension into Park Slope, Windsor Terrace and Kensington was one boost in service after years of cuts and fare hikes. The G train is our Brooklyn Local. We need to preserve the G train extension!
