Save Portuguese at Utrecht University

The Utrecht Portuguese Program is a an internationally known center of research and learning. Its symposia and conferences have influenced a generation of scholars of Portuguese-Brazilian-African literatures and cultures. I am shocked to learn that this program is in jeopardy and cannot begin to calculate the loss to the world of Portuguese Studies and to future students and scholars. Closing the program is short-sighted and adds to the irony of globalization without cross-cultural communication.
