Stop Victimisation of NEU Rep Keiran Mahon

Stop Victimisation of NEU Rep Keiran Mahon
REP VICTIMISATION AT OAKS PARK HIGH SCHOOL, REDBRIDGE
Keiran Mahon is an NEU co-rep at Oaks Park High School in Redbridge.
Kieran is being subjected to a Disciplinary Hearing on 19th April 2021. The allegations that Keiran is facing are grossly overstated and should have been dealt with informally. Incredibly, the disciplinary letter implies that Keiran could even be dismissed.
The NEU believes that the real reason for the disciplinary action against Keiran is victimisation for his trade union activity.
In January 2021 Keiran, in his role as NEU co-rep, supported union members to invoke Section-44 when the school was insisting staff come on-site to deliver online lessons instead of working from home during the national lockdown. This campaign forced the school to acknowledge the members’ right to exercise Health and Safety regulation and had to allow staff to work from home.
Following this, Keiran and other trade union members who invoked section 44 feel they have been targeted and bullied. Keiran’s co-rep at the school, Bill Stockwell, has also had allegations made against him within weeks of invoking s44.
Kieran Mahon should be free to carry out his trade union duties without fear of victimization. Attacks on the union reps in the school is an attack on all members’ right to be in a union.
Please support Kieran Mahon.
