Detention centers that are holding immigrants in the United States are inhumane and conditions need to be changed to help current illegal immigrants survive.

According to a report done by the Office of Inspector General (independent branch of the DHS) these detention centers are holding immigrants longer than 72 hours and some children under 7 for over two weeks. This report shows multiple different instances where immigrants are being treated poorly. These include but are not limited to, a detainee being told that no one cares about him and that he should sign voluntary deportation papers by a psychologist, a detainee enduring excruciating pain after a botched tooth extraction, a detainee suffering multiple broken fingers after his hand was slammed in a cell door by a guard and a detainee not receiving hearing aids he needed and living in confusion.

Although some people think that keeping immigrants in the detention centers is keeping Americans safer and keeping crime off the streets. But, according to the Public Integrity reports show that in 2018 there was a 39% increase in immigrants that had never been reported of even a minor violation. There are fewer and fewer immigrants who have actually committed any type of crime being held in detention centers and more innocent people day by day.

Reaching out to Chad Wolf and grabbing his attention as well as the rest of the DHS will bring these immigrants relief and will prevent future immigrants from going through the same devastating circumstances.
