CHS DRESS CODE / RULES & REGULATIONS
women of all ages have a right to feel comfortable in their own skin & nobody should have the right to tell her that by wearing “those kinds of clothes,” she is a distraction to the people around her. doesn’t it make more sense to teach boys to keep their eyes to themselves rather than to tell the girls to hide their bodies? i am a 17 year old girl. if you are sexualizing me, you are the problem. This morning i was dress coded for my ripped jeans. i asked to call my mom to bring me clothes. they told me if i did that, i would be punished for an unexcused absence for first hour, even though i’d already missed 3/4ths of the period sitting there waiting while over 10 girls were dress coded. I decided to walk out of that office and go home considering i was going to be punished for an unexcused absence either way. i get it that you have students that will shut up and let you tell them what to wear, when to talk, when they can go to the bathroom, when they can get a drink of water, but i’m not one of those students. i’m one of those students who stands up for what they believe in. i’m gonna go to the bathroom when i have to go to the bathroom, i’m not 5 years old and i have a bladder that i can’t control. i’m going to wear what i want because im at school to learn, i shouldn’t be missing my entire first hour class because of a hole in my jeans that comes up a little too short. so my very sincere apologies, CHS, for using the voice i was given and standing up for every teenage girl in that attendance office today. but i’ll gladly do it again. * PLEASE SIGN FOR STUDENT RIGHTS TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES *
