The above is a photo from Dow published on their website. They produce Garlon RTU.
We are surrounded by chemicals in our daily lives. Farmers use them to grow crops and we use sundry cleaners, disinfectants and protection from bugs and for many other uses. Why add to the chemical milieu ?
Recently published research in the EU and the US is showing residual glyphosates (the active ingredient in Roundup and other versions of Garlon) persist years after spraying in plant and animal tissues and even in human tissue.
Why does Hydro One use Garlon RTU when trees and shrubs under hydro lines can be removed with axes, saws and clippers. This will give temporary employment to local youth and people seeking work on Manitoulin Island.
Our rural water comes from local wells and many on the island grow their own food.
Please help us keep our food and water safe. Please sign our petition to help us persuade Central Manitoulin to join Assiginack and Tehkummah in a united effort to use 'moral suasion' to change the provincial Pesticide Act that allows the application of Garlon RTU on all public land and Hydro One rights of way.
