Better Central Better Tomorrow
Hello students and administrators of central high school. As students we should enjoy and feel safe during high school, central high school lacks many opportunities of change. We are not taught enough about mental health, gun safety, bullying and so on. We have the power to change our school for the better but yet we do not. Growing up we all watched movies and shows that have fun and safe high schools, do you ever wonder why we don’t have things that most high schools have ? like seminars about mental health and bullying which we feel is necessary to better us not just as students but as people. school shootings have been happening a lot recently along with bomb and gun threats. Metal detectors cannot keep us safe alone. for example on December 9th 2021 central high school had a lockdown drill that was poorly ran through. Security guards did not check the locked doors nor were teachers prepared. How should we feel safe in a real situation like that when we didn’t even feel safe during the drill? High school should not feel unsafe and miserable. As students we are tired of being depressed because of school. Almost 9% of students have committed suicide in this year alone and 3/4 students in high school have diagnosed depression. Central high school does nothing to shed light on mental health, bullying, or gun violence other than morning announcements that no one pays attention to. We should have seminars to acknowledge students about bullying especially because of the fact that 74% of school shootings are in result of bullying. Let’s make our high school experience enjoyable and safe. Together the students and administrators of central can make a change and make this school a safer and better environment all together.
