Why this petition matters

Started by Chetan Arup

This is a request and an appeal to seek your immediate attention to save our beloved Guru Osho's aka Bhagwan Shri Rajneesh's prime ashram, located at Koregaon Park, Pune, Maharashtra. It is currently run by a group of trustees as Osho International Foundation (OIF) and Neo-Sannyas Foundation, formed by the amalgamation of two other trusts. The OIF trust has made several attempts to alienate and discourage the disciples of Osho from visiting the ashram over a period of time. It was built by the tireless efforts of hundreds and thousands of Osho's disciples under Osho's guidance and instruction in the 70s.                                                                                                              Our Guru's Samadhi is situated at the ashram as well, along with the samadhis of his enlightened disciples (3) and his parents. All of these are situated inside the said Ashram .Osho lived here for several years, left his body inside the ashram, body was burnt at the nearby burning ghat (1 January 19, 1990) and a Samadhi containing Osho's ashes (as per Osho's instructions) was created in the presence of thousands of his disciples at the Ashram. Osho's disciples have been coming to be in the presence of this very Samadhi and they have been attending silent -sitting meditations around this very Samadhi. However, the trust now claims that there is no Samadhi there thus discouraging Osho's disciples from visiting the place and denouncing a place of worship and meditation. Recently, the said trust OIF has filed applications seeking permission to dispose of the trust’s ~9800 sq m property worth Rs.107 crores to Rajiv Bajaj and his family on account of settling the losses incurred due to the lockdown, yet they refuse to open the ashram following the COVID protocol to prevent any further loss.

Osho is admired and loved by his disciples not only in India but across the globe, for his spiritual guidance, meditations for the modern man, and his sheer presence which can still be felt in his ashram. His contribution to humanity and the understanding of human consciousness is unparalleled. The lovers/disciples/admirers of Osho, humbly request you take an urgent note of this grave situation, prevent the sale of ashram property which should not be sold by the Trust. Open the Ashram gates for the disciples, call for a change of management and find creative ways to cut the losses.

Beings of Osho's stature are rare and his legacy must be preserved as a national heritage, not be desecrated for the fulfillment of the monetary greed of a few people claiming to be the owners of OSHO.
We would be truly grateful for your support and intervention from your level.
