Reduction in plastic pollution

Reduction in plastic pollution
Plastic pollution is today one of the most serious environmental problems affecting the world. Once in the natural environment, plastic can take up to 500 years to disappear and impacts wildlife on a daily basis. Everyday, plastic waste negatively impacts the ecosystem, habitats, human health and sustainable development across the world. Despite the vast scale of the problem, the general public have not been adequately engaged and educated on how they can become part of the solution.
I request the government to raise public awareness which can help to change the way that plastic is viewed, used and managed as waste. Education can be part of a city’s strategic action plan, and can include consumer awareness campaigns, documentary films, school initiatives and cleanup activities etc. I also request the government to ban all single-use plastic products.
