Change the law on school transport and seat belts

School children are being transported in school buses without seat belts. At low speeds without seat belts the children will be thrown across seats on impact during a crash, at higher speeds deaths are far more likely. Until legislation is changed local councils will allow children to travel this way. The local councils do not include seat belts in their specification whilst tendering for school transport, the budgets they set do not give bus operators the margins to invest in seat belts. This situation is unacceptable, we as parents can put pressure on local councils and central Government for change, let's do it before there is a serious incident. Wales have already changed the law, Scotland are currently in consultation. If we come together and show our determination for change I'm convinced central government will have to take action.
