My Mother is in the late stages of Alzheimer’s and is resident of a Care Home in Grantham.

Since lockdown the policy has been to deny any visits from relatives at all apart from at the very end of life.
This has seen a sudden end to Mums daily contact with her husband and the essential life line this provided for her. She is not very able to engage with video calling.

Without the ability to understand the circumstances this has left my Mother and her loved ones bereft. She is suffering emotionally, refusing food and loosing weight fast.

The detrimental effects this is having outweigh the risk of a controlled regular visit within precautionary measures.
Quickly clarify advice from the Department of Health and Social Care and take a more nuanced approach to allowing visits within precautionary measures.
