The Center Grove name speaks for itself. When people think of Center Grove, they think of excellent education, a sense of community, and safety. Families come to the Center Grove area knowing that their children will be able to live a safe, healthy childhood.

However, there is a consistent fear currently surrounding our community and our children. Shaun Martinez is posing a significant threat to our community. He is an out of district father who has been cited numerous times for driving recklessly, speeding in construction zones, and flying through the school parking lots. He unsafely passes parents in double yellows, tries running others off the roads, and is all around a nuisance. He has only been in this district for a matter of weeks and yet the complaints do not stop coming in. He has become such a prevalent danger that many parents immediately start recording as soon as they see his vehicle, not only for their own safety, but for the safety of those around them. It appears pulling him over has not done anything to deter this behavior either.

 On 8/18/2021 he was caught speeding around schools. On 5/11/2020 he was pulled over for reckless driving. He has had been pulled over numerous times for driving without a valid license and it seems as though nothing will stop him from posing a threat on the roads. Parents have witnessed him passing other parents in the school parking lot, nearly missing children trying to get to school. They have witnessed him attempting to run other parents off the road. He has been recorded passing cars at high speeds in school zones, crossing a double yellow line. In a perfect world, his students would be provided transportation to school, and this would not be an issue, however with them living out of district, this is not a possibility.

While his children should not be punished for the acts of their father, his children represent approximately .0002% of the entire student population of Center Grove Community School Corporation. They are 2 students out of the approximately 10,000 students in our district. Mr. Martinez puts children at Pleasant Grove Elementary, Middle School North, Center Grove Elementary, Middle School Central, Center Grove High School, Walnut Grove Elementary, and anyone else using Morgantown Road and the surrounding roads in danger every single day he brings his children to school.

When is enough going to be enough? Center Grove PD, Bargersville PD, and Greenwood PD have all tried, they have pulled him over, they have talked to him, but they are only allowed to do so much. It is time for the Administration to take over this matter and do what is best for the entire community that is affected every single day by ONE single person. It should not take a child or a family getting hurt or killed to come up with a resolution to this issue, and the way things are looking, that is exactly what is going to happen. This issue has been brought up numerous times to numerous people, working its way all the way up to Central Office and it seems as though the issue is getting swept under the rug.

This petition is for the removal of Mr. Shaun Martinez from any Center Grove Community School Corporation property to ensure the safety of every student and family that are at risk. If Mr. Martinez is continued to be allowed to drive his children to school daily, our community will continue to be fearful of their safety and someone will end up getting hurt.
