We, the undersigned home owners and/or eligible voters of the City of Plano, petition the City Council of Plano to discontinue permitting cell phone towers within 1500 feet of homes.  We ask that the recently constructed Verizon 5G cell phone tower on the north side of the Parkdale community (near the corner of Hedgecoxe and Coit) be relocated immediately.

Basis for request:

1:  There is ongoing debate on the long-term health effects from radiofrequency (RF) radiation emitted from cell phone towers.  International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified electromagnetic radiation as ‘possibly carcinogenic to humans.’  Reference:  https://www.iarc.who.int/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/pr208_E.pdf  

2:  There is a negative impact on the value of homes located in close proximity to cell phone towers.  A simple web search for “home values impacted by cell phone towers” provides numerous sources stating that there is a negative impact to homes in close proximity to cell phone towers.  An article from the National Business Post found home values depressed as high as 20%.  Reference:  https://www.nationalbusinesspost.com/cell-towers-impact-home-values/
