Emily Kaster started this petition to Cedarville Village Council

Crossing the major intersections, especially from the new Pharmacy to Beans n Cream, has become increasingly dangerous. Drivers and pedestrians are crossing the intersection at the wrong times, causing multiple "almost" accidents every day.

One of the steps that can help this problem would be for the village council to install pedestrian crossing signals at the intersection. Pedestrians, especially children, will know when it's safe to cross and driver's will know that they, in fact, do not have the right away. As a small village that has a significant number of the population walking around the Downtown area, this should have been a public safety priority a long time ago and we need to let the Council know this is a top priority that should NOT be put off until next year.

I started this petition because...
I'm a stay-at-home-mother of 4 small children and one of the major reasons we decided to stay in Cedarville was because we loved walking around the town. Several weeks ago, my 5 year old almost got run over by a driver turning right on red while we were in the middle of the intersection. After that, I reached out to several ODOT personnel and they officially determined it was the Village of Cedarville's responsibility to correct this situation.

Update: The petition is not to force this to happen sooner, I know all the paperwork and red tape takes time. This petition is to show that this is a concern to the villagers and we want action taken. A council member said last night that lots of times things are brought up at council meetings but no action is actually taken because the council only has so much power and can't do certain things, so the villagers have to be the ones to apply (I believe) for things like this. The council members are willing to help with application process and so forth. So again it's just a way to show the council this means a lot to our town and that the process should be started now to get the applications, Safety Study/Report, Cost Estimate, Crash Analysis, Crash Diagram, Project exhibits, and everything else that needs to happen before even starting the project.

Update: found a new program that can cover 100%,  its called Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program and the application for next years funding isn't until January so it should give the village enough time to gather all the information due with the application!!! WOOHOO!
