Ignore the Petition to Restrict Fireworks

Many people are complaining about the use of fireworks within city limits and have created a petition for tighter regulation.
They are sighting noise pollution, stress to vets, stress to animals, and generally acting as if there is nothing they can do but complain about it.
This is a counter petition encouraging the members of the Cedar Rapids IA City Council to stand firm and give this some time to avoid making any rash decisions about this due to negativity from a small percent of the population.
Fireworks are fun, exciting, and surely generating a good amount of tax revenue for the city and state.
It should come as no surprise that after being banned for so long, and with a limited window on their sale and legality that people are losing themselves in this a bit.
The responsible course of action would be to stay the course on this and allow people (and their pets) time to adjust to the noise while also allowing enthusiast time to get this out of their system.
It is also advisable that the City Council at some point down the road remove the date restriction on the sale and use of the fireworks to allow the novelty of the fireworks to wear off a bit more which will result in a gradual decline in their use.
By signing this petition you are encouraging the City of Cedar Rapids to stay the course and let the fireworks fly.
