Dear Cedar Cove 1 Residents,

I have created this petition to present to Cedar Cove 1 Condominium Association in order to demonstrate support for the opening of our community swimming pool effective immediately and to keep it open until the end of the 2021 season.

Residents of Cedar Cove 1 received notice on May 27, 2021 that our community swimming pool would be closed due to our inability to meet the required health and safety regulations without staff. However, the State's hourly cleaning and disinfecting requirements have since expired. Though we were assured that the Board of Directors would reevaluate the opening of the pool as regulations were lifted, the pool remains closed.

The City of Aurora and Arapahoe County are in Level Clear without additional requirements. The CDC website states: "There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas."

In short, to say the pool must remain closed due to the pandemic is a farce.

We residents pay an exorbitant HOA fee of $389 per month, in part for the use of these amenities. It is unjust to deny us use of the amenities we pay for without good reason. Given that many pools in our county have opened safely, it is apparent that good reason is lacking.

We, the undersigned residents of Cedar Cove 1, request the Board of Directors reconsider their decision to close the pool and believe that the community pool can safely and promptly be opened for the 2021 season. We understand and are ready to adhere to reasonable social guidelines, such as signage at the pool entrance to “Enter at own Risk” and social distancing.
