Christopher Bannon started this petition to Cecil County Planning Commission

It is with deep thoughtfulness and concern that we, the citizens of Port Deposit and the surrounding area kindly petition the Cecil County Planning Commission to deny the proposal of the development titled as "Granite Cliffs".

With further detailed testimony to be presented during public hearing, we believe this proposal to have strong negative consequences for the citizens of this area; ranging from infrastructure concerns, tax based concerns, storm-water runoff concerns, increases in stream and creek flooding, quality of life impediments, pollution concerns, and overall safety and well being concerns for current citizens living in close proximity to the proposed area.

We are no strangers to this quarry company and their endless fight to negatively impact the citizens of this area. Numerous times we, the citizens have stood up to voice our opposition to their outrageous proposals for this piece of land. The first time it was to make a quarry - in 1998 it was for housing, in 2009 and 2011 it was for a planned unit development. Cecil County Government has so far seen through their bright plans and realized the dangers that would incur if allowed to proceed. We strongly urge you to not break precedent concerning this particular area at this time. The risks are simply too great.

As the Cecil County Planning Commission, you have specific duties to the citizens of this county, and I quote from the Cecil County Government website, "The duties and responsibilities of the Planning Commission are established to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the County citizens." Therefore, we urge you to strongly consider our concerns pertaining to our health, safety and welfare as you weigh decision of this proposal. As the taxpaying citizens of this county, we do not believe this proposal is in our best interest. In fact, we believe it is the complete opposite, and very well has the potential to negatively impact the very things your duties insure you to represent and protect.

With that under consideration, we once again implore you, our board, to stand up for the citizens of this county and not allow this monstrosity of a proposal, abundant with negative consequences to proceed any further.
