The Culver City Unified School District installed unproven and dangerous bipolar ionization devices into school ventilation systems. Numerous scientists, regulatory agencies, and other organizations (CDPH, CDC, EPA, New York State Education Department, Johns Hopkins, Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America) unanimously warn against the dangers of these devices, especially around children, and their unproven effectiveness. Ionizers provide zero benefits with enormous risks to students and teachers. The burden of proof should never have been placed on parents and children.

​CCUSD school board members and the Superintendent have been made aware of the latest peer-reviewed scientific research that shows these ionizers do not work as the manufacturer claims and generate harmful ultrafine particles and chemical byproducts that children breathe. But the school board and administration still refuse to follow the science and remove these harmful devices that endanger our children.

We call on Superintendent Tran, Assistant Superintendent Quinn, and the School Board to immediately remove bipolar ionization devices from each classroom.

El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Culver City instaló dispositivos de ionización bipolar peligrosos y no aprobados en los sistemas de ventilación de las escuelas. Varios científicos, agencias reguladoras y otras organizaciones (CDPH, CDC, EPA, Departamento de Educación del Estado de Nueva York, Johns Hopkins, Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America) advierten sobre los peligros de estos dispositivos, especialmente alrededor de los niños al igual que su efectividad no ha sido aprobada. Los ionizadores proporcionan cero beneficios con enormes riesgos para nuestros estudiantes y profesores. La carga de comprobar la efectividad de los dispositivos de ionización nunca debería haber caído en nuestros hijos.

Los miembros del Comité Educativo de CCUSD y el Superintendente han sido informados de las últimas investigaciones científicas que muestran que estos ionizadores no funcionan como afirma el fabricante al igual que generan  productos químicos que los niños respiran. Pero el Comité Educativo de CCUSD y la administración aún se niegan a seguir la ciencia y eliminar estos dispositivos dañinos que ponen en peligro a nuestros niños.

Por lo tanto, hacemos un llamado al Superintendente Tran, al Asistente del Superintendente Quinn y a al Comité Educativo de CCUSD para que retiren inmediatamente los dispositivos de ionización bipolar de cada salón de clases.
