Colleges should be more focused on trying to help students. They are already giving that school hundreds of thousands of dollars to earn a degree in classes that they are literally failing because CCU is more focused on MONEY than the lives of their students. I bet in 2 years when their graduation rate drops substantially they will really be upset . Maybe they should be more upset now and fix the problem before they get sued.

I am signing this petition because, I think there’s no reason why people should not be excused from classes. If they are not only looking out for their peers but taking action and keeping everyone safe.

I found this petition via a commendable student’s tik tok account. I am currently a student at a college in Columbus, OH and have recently became positive with covid-19. Both of my classes are currently blended- partially online and in person. Unfortunately, my in person (required to attend to pass the class and continue with my degree) lab classes was during my quarantine period. So, I joined virtually from home and experienced the same class as those in class. I was emailed a quiz (the same quiz the in person students took) and emailed it back within 10 minutes to achieve the same grade as those in class. While this was not ideal, I was still given the same opportunities as those not positive and attending class, still moving forward in my academics in the midst of this pandemic, which is ultimately what all of us students want. CCU don’t punish the students continuing to show up, continuing to try and put their education first, and don’t punish those trying to keep everyone around them from spreading the virus.

1. Cutos to you Jessica for starting this petition.
2. CCU, do better.

students and families should not be paying for college classes when they can’t even take them due to restrictions. this is unacceptable and makes students and families and people providing funds extremely frustrated.

Students are proactively getting tested to ensure the safety of other students around them when they are feeling sick. Why should they be penalized for doing the right thing? Accommodations for students experiencing symptoms or positively testing for COVID, should be required by professors. It is mot the students fault they were somehow exposed to the virus as it is easily transmissible. Don’t punish students for taking the right steps.
