Today's CBSE AISSCE Physics exam of class 12 for the batch of 2018-19 was disappointing for many. The Foreign set was very tough and much more challenging than last years paper as well as lengthy (I am a foreign student but I have read that the paper was equally hard in the Delhi and All India set).

  • Most of the questions were tricky and indirect. Especially the 3 Mark questions from Section C,very few derivations and theory questions came. Most of the questions were HOTS.
  • Considering that we only got 2 days to revise the portion before our exam and that most students prepared for theory and derivations which barely came in the paper made this paper really tough.
  • Because so many of the questions are application based, students who have just studied the NCERT wouldn’t be able to score well in the Physics board exam at all.
  • Normally we expect 5-mark questions to be direct questions and weak students often depend on them to raise their marks. But this time, the 5-mark questions were not only indirect and tricky, but they were also mostly numericals even the OR option questions.
  • So, this means that average students will face a lot of difficulty in scoring well this year.

Students going for JEE coaching may find it a bit easier because they have been practicing this for a while. But that's not the case with most of the other students who depend on school notes and NCERT..

This is not fair as the previous batches had the moderation policy and the succeeding batches would have a reduction in the syllabus. This leaves the present XII students with neither a reduction in the syllabus nor having the moderation policy.

  • This years physics paper was by far the most challenging and is worthy of the moderation policy.
  • We request the CBSE Examination Board to make the correction liberal so that it wont affect our future.
