Joe Hildebrand is an unqualified spokesperson who has repeatedly been given a national platform to spread his harmful and factually inaccurate opinions on subjects he is unqualified to speak on.

In a time when our nation desperately needs truth in media, Joe Hildebrand represents the worst of partisan, agenda driven, hate politics.

Joe Hildebrand continues to be supportive of those that spread bigotry, and he defends dangerous bigoted opinions as 'important to public debate'.

For example, his article "What is George Pell really guilty of?" Published after the cardinal was convicted of child sexual abuse, and his TV appearance where he blamed Rosie Batty for not preventing her son's death to domestic violence.

Furthermore he rejects all forms of personal criticism, often in public personal attacks against field experts who correct his erroneous opinions. For example when many Indigenous scholars tried to correct his inaccurate article about Indigenous genocide

In the wake of his most recent opinion-piece, calling for tolerance of hate speech immediately prior to international white supremacist terror attacks, CBS/10 must consider if these are the views they want their platforms to be elevating and promoting.

We, the signatories of this petition, ask Studio 10 and CBS to remember their responsibility to the public as national media platforms, and acknowledge that hate speech has no place in any national discourse.

It would be disappointing to think that Joe Hildebrand, and his continuous need to create controversy, represents the values of CBS/10.

As a key person on the Studio Ten panel it is disappointing that this platform gives voice to his opinions when there are a plethora of qualified experts who can give accurate insights on complex subjects.

Please consider elevating these voices in lieu of Hildebrand's frequently inaccurate and harmful opinions.
