Incident reported..CBI Enquiry required
A resident of Tevara village in Pratapgarh district, Rohit Shukla (38) was visiting Uchahar area in the neighbouring Raibareli district. A former village Pradhan of Tevara, Rohit was getting another house constructed in Uchahar, about 35 km away from his present house.
The labourers engaged for construction work informed Shukla that Raja Yadavfrom Apta village has stopped the work and was threatening to attack them. Yadav is son of Ram Shri, the woman Pradhan of Apta village and claimed that the construction was illegal on the gram sabha land without getting a clearance.

Along with his friends, which included Brijendra Shukla, Narendra, Manish, Ankush Mishra and Anoop Mishra, the 38-year-old former Pradhan reached Yadav's residence in Apta in his SUV. Shukla had a confrontation with Yadav and the two sides started exchanging expletives. Shukla allegedly fired gunshots thereafter and a large crowd gathered at the spot in Yadav's support. Sensing trouble, Shukla along with his five friends left the spot in the SUV.

The rival group began chasing the vehicle on motorcycles. Having scaled a distance of 2km, Manish who was at wheels lost balance after the vehicle hit a pedestrian. The vehicle hit an electricity pole thereafter. Along with scores of lathi wielding men, Yadav reached the spot.
The mob charged at the group and kept hitting Shukla, Brijendra and Narendra. Bleeding profusely, the three died. Anoop and Ankush were holed up in the SUV and villagers poured petrol on it setting the vehice on fire. The duo were charred to death. Manish seemingly managed to escape before the mob could have lynched him with the remaining five.

All five killed in the mob violence including Shukla lived in Sangramgarh area of Pratapgarh and police were worried about further violence prempting backlash.

Shukla left behind a wife and two children. Shukla was facing trial in some criminal cases and had been booked in eight different FIRs registered at Sangramgarh police station. But police said that he held no grudges against Yadav barring the latest dispute.
