Dear Sri. Sushil Chandra, Please help us link Aadhaar and PAN

Request made before the Chairman, CBDT.
The Finance Bill 2017 has made Aadhaar mandatory for filing income tax returns. Taxpayers are required to link their PAN with Aadhaar. This is definitely a laudable step to eliminate duplicate PAN cards and tax-evasion. But this process is turning out to be a nightmare for many taxpayers who have single letter initials in their names in Aadhaar. Names in Aadhaar are based on birth and school-certificate data. Many of them contain single letter initials and hence these Aadhaar names are documented accordingly. But PAN data contains expansion of these initials and hence the “full names”. This name mismatch is creating problems during PAN-Aadhaar linking.
It is not possible to even get a new PAN issued, since while applying for new PAN cards online, the PAN card service providers too are facing similar difficulties on the websites. The website does not accept single letters as first name, middle name or last name.
This has attracted media attention also nationally, like http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kochi/malayalis-face-an-initial-problem/articleshow/57918391.cms
This can be mitigated in a simple way. There is a field in the PAN application form which asks for the “Name as you would like to be printed on the card”. If the data matching for Aadhaar linking is made with this field, the applicant could get a PAN issued with this field matching the name in the Aadhaar, thus easily solving this issue.
This is to request you Sir, to issue necessary directions to implement this feature.
